Aiming to encourage their community members to live healthy and active lifestyles, Irish Red Cross Youth members in Tralee have been busy planning a series of monthly “Fun day Fridays”, providing an opportunity for members of the public to engage in healthy activities for both the mind and body.
UN Member States are currently in New York to negotiate a treaty to regulate international transfers of conventional weapons. I previously blogged about the need for an effective arms trade treaty here and over the coming month will be watching the progress in New York and hopefully blogging some more on the issue.

Dundalk, Co Louth
In July 2012, the Irish Red Cross will welcome Red Cross and Red Crescent volunteer teams from all over Europe to Dundalk, Co Louth, as they compete to become the most knowledgeable and skilled First Aid team on the continent in FACE 2012. FACE (First Aid Convention Europe) is an annual event, hosted by a different European country each year.
During the competition Red Cross and Red Crescent volunteers showcase their first aid techniques through first aid scenarios. The simulations, called “Test Stations” will also include the task of verifying the participants’ knowledge in different fields.
